NAHN-Michigan is deeply honored to receive the 2025 DAISY Team Award for Nurses Advancing Health Equity! This national recognition from the DAISY Foundation celebrates teams that go beyond bedside care—championing access, cultural humility, education, and representation in nursing. We are humbled to be counted among them.

Why This Matters

Health equity isn’t a slogan, it’s our work. From mentoring diverse nursing students across Michigan, to awarding scholarships, to showing up in schools and communities to inspire the next generation of nurses, NAHN-MI is committed to closing gaps in care and opportunity. Our members collaborate across cultures, languages, and systems to lift up Black, Latino/Latine, and other historically underrepresented communities in nursing and healthcare.

A Moment of Gratitude

Thank you to the DAISY Foundation for this tremendous honor. We accept it with gratitude, humility, and renewed dedication to the work ahead. We also honor:

  • Our leadership team, past, present, and emerging whose vision carried us through post-pandemic rebuilding and into renewed growth.

  • Our members and student members, who volunteer, mentor, and advocate in classrooms, clinics, and community spaces.

  • Our community partners, sponsors, and donors, whose investment turns mission into measurable impact.

  • The families and loved ones who support the long hours and emotional labor that equity work requires.

From Pandemic Challenge to Community Momentum

Like many organizations, the COVID-19 pandemic strained our ability to convene, recruit, and serve. Instead of retreating, we rebuilt. Membership engagement is climbing, scholarships continue, and our outreach to youth—especially in Black and Latino communities—has expanded through health education, career exploration, and culturally responsive programming.

Join Us in the Work Ahead

This award celebrates what we can do together—and we’re just getting started. Help us:

  • Mentor and sponsor diverse nursing students.

  • Expand pipeline programs into more schools and community centers.

  • Support scholarships that remove financial barriers to the nursing profession.

  • Partner with us on health equity initiatives across Michigan.

Ready to get involved? Become a member, donate to our scholarship fund, or connect your organization as a community partner. Together, we advance nursing and health equity for all.
